Something to be aware of: when we want to do something, or we like something, we find all kinds of reasons why it's the right thing to do and reasons why things that contradict it are wrong (dieting/church attendance/paying bills/etc, etc). We must be very careful that if we are doing this in our spiritual lives, or with our morality/ethics, that we are going to the Word of God FIRST, and for the final say, whether we like it or not, and truly submit to God's Word to govern our decisions. As Christians, disregarding the Word of God until after we choose to do our way isn't optional any way, and if we do not take heed to this truth, we will always regret it sooner or later.
2 Timothy 3:16–17 (NKJV)
16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
2 Timothy 3:16–17 (NLT)
16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 17 God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.
