1 Corinthians 16:14 (NKJV)
“Let all that you do be done with love.”
Real love places self in other people’s shoes. In other words, when others do things against me, or do things I don’t agree with, I immediately remember that I could do the same today. I could fail, accidentally hurt someone, or offend people so easily. What would I want if I did? Mercy, forgiveness, love. I want to treat others the way Jesus treats me. It is much easier to love people when you remember how much God has loved you…it is much easier to be merciful and overlook foolishness and offenses when we remember how offensive we’ve been at times.
Lord, help us to love with real love, not human, shallow love, but Your merciful kindness that has empathy, humility, and gives what we want to receive. Help us to let all that we do be done with true love that is quick to forgive. Give us Your heart so we can have peace and quickly mend relationships because our days in this world are very few.
