2 Corinthians 6:14–18 (NKJV)
14 Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? 15 And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? 16 And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said:
“I will dwell in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they shall be My people." 17 Therefore “Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you. I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says the LORD Almighty.”
1 Corinthians 6:9–10 (NKJV)
9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.
No, you CANNOT live life on your terms and go to heaven...that is exactly what we just read. I want to try to keep this simple, and not sound too hard, but you do NOT have a choice in the matter when you give your life to Jesus by true faith. You are His, period.
I am very sad today with all of the deception I see around me; those I know, love, and even have pastored for years, who are living in open rebellion to God and think they are ok (ultimately they are unbelievers). No, you are NOT ok, and I am afraid you may be getting turned over to your sins (read Romans 1 etc below)...to think that you can live against God and be saved (be an unbeliever)? This is impossible. You will either repent/turn from your sins (truly believe) and turn to Jesus, or you will burn in hell forever.
It's a shame that so many profess to be Christians, but do not know Jesus...and they are warned about it over and over. I just cannot understand how people can regularly attend true Bible teaching churches and continue in sin. It's one thing if your pastor thinks he's a stud, cool, and cute...and doesn't REALLY preach the Word...but when you hear the Word in truth and reject it? You are in trouble.
Jesus has more mercy than we can comprehend, but His mercy is forever on those who fear Him (Psalm 103:11), not forever on those who mock Him (Galatians 6:7). Jesus is not some sissified, passive, effeminate "guy in heaven." Jesus is the LORD, and we had better FEAR HIM.
Romans 1:28 (NKJV)
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting;
Psalm 50:20–21 (NKJV)
20 You sit and speak against your brother;
You slander your own mother’s son.
21 These things you have done, and I kept silent;
You thought that I was altogether like you;
But I will rebuke you,
And set them in order before your eyes.
Psalm 81:11–12 (NKJV)
11 “But My people would not heed My voice,
And Israel would have none of Me.
12 So I gave them over to their own stubborn heart,
To walk in their own counsels.
